Welcome to the August 22nd edition of The Homeschool Mother’s Journal at NextGen Homeschool!
This week we’ve kicked the back-to-school planning into high gear: We purchased the rest of the supplies we will need for the once-a-week Artios Academies program we’re participating in, which starts in just nine days, and I reorganized my desk and homeschooling storage cabinets in our dual-purpose dining/family/homeschool area.
Even though we’re a digital family — everyone has a “smart” device of some kind — I’m still a paper & pencil person when it comes to planning. I’m a visual (read/write) learner, and the process of writing out our plans on paper is important to me. I’ve ordered predesigned planners from HEDUA’s Well Planned Day line of homeschool planners for this purpose, and this summer I had the chance to evaluate the Well Planned Day High School 4-Year Planner for my eldest, who’s entering 9th grade this year.
See this week’s review to find out what we loved about it — and guess what, you can win a FREE planner of your own! Our giveaway ends tomorrow night, so make sure you enter to win here by midnight on August 23rd!

SPECIAL SERIES ON VIBRANT HOMESCHOOLING
Every Thursday from now through August 27, our co-host Vibrant Homeschooling will be featuring a movie (many of them ones your family probably also loves too) that your family can not only watch together, but enjoy related fun activities, crafts and more. Nine bloggers from other popular homeschooling blogs will be sharing their favorite movies, including NextGen Homeschool! Don’t miss it: Stay up to date with the series here.
